Where to Stay in Phuket: The Complete Area Guide
Stay in Patong for nightlife and energy, Karon or Kata for a more relaxed beach holiday, Kamala for peace and community, Bang Tao for upscale resort vibes, or Phuket Old Town if culture and architecture are your thing.
Phuket might look compact on a map but it is actually Thailand's largest island, with over 30 beaches and each area carrying its own personality. Once you've sorted your flights, picking the right base is the decision that shapes everything else. This guide breaks down the most popular areas to stay in Phuket in 2026, with hotel picks across every budget.
It is easy to get around using taxis, the Smart Bus, or a hired motorbike. If you plan to drive yourself, bring your International Driving Permit as police checkpoints are common.
